You will also find so many interesting shops, historic sites and a world famous pub all within a few yards of our front door. Opposite is the popular Cornflowers gift shop and just around the corner P & G Wells - a wonderful bookshop well worth visiting and just a few doors away from Jane Austen's House. When you're in need of refreshment you can't fail to enjoy the delights of Kingsgate Wines & Provisions just opposite Winchester's most famous pub, The Wykeham Arms.

Literally above the shop is the hidden gem; a tiny church of St.Swithun upon Kingsgate. A place of pilgrimage for centuries and still an active and vibrant local church. Through the Close Gate is the picturesque Cheyney Court and at the end of College Street, next to the Bishop's Palace, is Wolvesey Castle; a picturesque ruined castle with stunning views back towards Winchester's most visited & most famous building, the Cathedral. All these treasures are within a few minutes of the Kingsgate Arch.

The shopfront dressed for the filming of 'Les Miserables' on 19th & 20th April 2012.
